Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
This policy explains what Currently (trycurrently.com) collects, why, and your choices. We keep it as small as the product allows.
1. What we collect
- Messages you analyse. When you drop The Currently Pin on a message or email, we receive its text, whether it looks like a text message or an email, whether it was sent by you or to you, the app you're using (for example Gmail or WhatsApp Web) and, where the page shows it, the name or email address of the other person in the conversation. This is used only to produce your analysis.
- Account details. Your email address and a salted, computationally expensive password hash. We use these to verify your account, sign you in to the website and browser extension, and recover access if you forget your password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Plan and usage. Your plan, credits left, credits used, renewal and cancellation dates, and a private account token used to link your browser to your account.
- Consent record. When you accept these terms during account verification or checkout we record the date and version.
- Payment information. Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe shares with us a customer and subscription reference and the status of your payment.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our servers and our network provider process your IP address and request details to deliver the site and keep it secure.
2. What we don't do
- The Currently Pin does not read your pages in the background. It only sends a message when you drop the pin on it.
- We do not store the text of the messages you analyse, and we do not keep the analyses.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
- The Currently Pin does not access your inbox or contacts. The password you choose is used only to authenticate your account.
3. How we use it
To run the analysis you ask for; to count credits; to provide, bill and support your plan; to prevent abuse; and to meet legal obligations. Our legal bases under UK GDPR are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, and your consent where we ask for it (for example, accepting these terms).
4. Who we share it with
- Stripe, to take payment and manage your subscription.
- Resend, to deliver one-time email verification and password-reset links.
- Cloudflare, which delivers trycurrently.com and passes traffic to our servers.
- AI model. Message text is processed by the AI model that runs on Currently's own servers; we don't send it to an outside AI company.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Email verification and password-reset links expire after 30 minutes; their records are deleted when used and expired records are cleaned up as the account flow is used. Account and usage records are kept while your account is active and for as long afterwards as we need for accounting, tax and dispute purposes. Message text is not kept after your analysis is produced.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Email trycurrentlyhelp@outlook.com and we will respond within one month. Cancel or resume your plan from The Currently Pin's panel or the Account page on our website.
7. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Access to our servers and records is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so please avoid analysing anything you would not be comfortable sending to an online service.
8. Children
The Currently Pin is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The Currently Pin stores its account token and pin position in the browser extension's local storage, including Safari extension storage when used in Safari. The website may temporarily keep an account token in local storage so the extension can sync after sign-in or payment.
10. Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
